The Felisian Chronicles - Chapter Four
Ally followed Craig back into the room she had started in, that had been identified as hers for the remainder of her stay in this castle. Craig began crossing the room as Ally turned to him with an inquisitive look.
"By the way, Craig. There's one more thing I wanted to ask you."
The young blonde paused and glanced at her over his shoulder with a neutral smile on his face. "Hm?"
"What exactly is this thing on my forehead anyways?" her index finger lightly traced the outline of the heart on her forehead as she added, "I didn't see anyone else with something stuck in their head.."
"Oh, that!" Craig responded casually, a bright smile returning to his face. "That would be the Felisian sign of royalty. Red is the colour of the royal family, hopefully you don't hate it because you'll probably be seeing a lot of it."
"I.. Take it this means the heart isn't coming off anytime soon.."
"Nope. I'm afraid you're stuck with it." Craig chuckled at her and then moved over to the unexplored closet and flicked on the lights. "These are for you, by the way."
As Ally stepped inside the closet after Craig, she gasped in surprise. This closet was enormous! She had never seen so much clothing in one place, with the exception of clothing stores. Her blue eyes glanced around in awe as she breathlessly whispered, "These... Are all.. For me?!"
"Well, you are the Queen, Ally."
Craig's good humored retort won him a smile in return before Ally started to examine her surroundings. So much clothing.. It was like a dream or something.. Except she noticed something slightly disturbing and cast Craig a look of confusion.
"Where are all the pants?"
"Pants?" Craig looked at her uncertainly and then sweatdropped. "You're the Queen, you aren't supposed to wear pants.. The only women who do are generally army trainees. Or in the case of Abby, combat trainers."
"E-Eh?! You're kidding, right?!"
"B-But..! I hate my legs! These p.j's are bad enough.." Ally made a glance at her legs and sweatdropped. The p.j shorts were just that.. Short.. She hadn't complained about them before, but she didn't really like wandering around in them.
"What's wrong with your legs?" Asked Craig, giving her legs a once over and then looking at her as if she were speaking a foreign language. "They look fine to me."
Ally turned her gaze to him and simply stared blankly, a blush crossing her face that quickly crept up onto Craig's as he felt the scrutiny in her eyes.
"W-What?" he choked out, eyes widdening ever so slightly as the tension seemed to build between them.
"Well.. Thanks.. I think..." Ally finally responded, turning her gaze from him, much to his relief. The Felisian Queen continued going through her wardrobe until she found some things she liked and then she smiled in triumph. "Okay, I found what I want. I'll be right back."
With that, she took off towards the bathroom, leaving Craig on his own.
'Interesting girl..' Craig thought to himself, striding over to the arm chair from earlier and taking a seat on it, his blue eyes darting around curiously, losing himself in his thoughts until the bathroom door opened again and Ally emerged, dressed in a long skirt and fairly simple looking top.
"A long skirt? Interesting choice."
"Now my legs won't be bare." she responded simply, turning to the door and nodding. "Should we get going?"
"Whatever you want, Your Highness." Craig responded with a slight grin, standing up and following her to the door.
"You know, I really don't understand you, Craig.."
"No one does."
The two made their way into the bright, inviting room that was the dining room. Lily and Abby both were sitting at the table, while Stella poured them coffee and idly chatted with them about something the new comers obviously didn't hear. As soon as Ally and Craig stepped into the room, the women looked up and cast them inviting smiles.
"Are you all right now, Ally?" Lily asked kindly, starting to stand up, although Ally quickly rose her hands and motioned for her to remain seated.
"I'm fine, not to worry."
The girls shared an understanding smile, while Craig took a seat and Abby quickly turned her attention to Ally.
"Did Craig explain everything to you?" Abby asked, looking between Ally and Craig with a curious look on her face.
"Everything except for the nineteen thing. He said to ask you to explain it." Ally responded, her blue eyes turning to Abby as she wandered closer to the table, inwardly hoping that the older girl would pass on an explanation for her.
Both Craig and Stella blushed at the mere mention of this, while Abby looked to Craig and burst out laughing.
"Aw, Craig! Too shy to talk to her about personal matters? How cute!" Abby snickered, unable to stop laughing, much to the confusion of Ally and Lily who cast each other uncertain glances. "Don't worry, I'll explain it to both of you later. It isn't of immediate importance."
"Should I tell Melody to start bringing in breakfast?" Stella said finally, seemingly recovered from the shock of the earlier talk, although a sweatdrop was present above her head.
"Sure." Craig replied, casting the maid a kind smile. "Thanks, Stella."
The maid gave a little curtsy and then excused herself from the room.
"By the way.. Where's Deacon?" Craig asked with a slight frown, only just noticing his partner's absence.
"Pouting in his room, I think." Abby replied with a snort. "I think he's pissed at you again, Craig."
Ally let out a sigh, feeling a slight pang of guilt. She hardly knew Deacon and she'd already slapped him. She'd never hit anyone in her life! With the exception of the little brother she had had on earth.. This caused another pang, this time of sadness, which mixed in with her guilty feelings. She sighed again and then murmered, "Where's his room?"
There was a startled silence as everyone's eyes turned to her.
"Uhh.. Same floor as yours. About four doors down, on the right.." Abby responded, a look of utter shock on her face. Was this girl stupid, or really brave?
"I'll go talk to him." said Ally, turning and heading out the way she came in.
"Wait! Let me go with you!" Lily called out, getting up from the table once again, a look of unease on her face.
"I'd just wait for him to cool down, Ally." Craig responded with a sweatdrop.
"No no.. He's my cat. I think I owe him an apology." 'Even if he was being a jerk...'
"Well.. All right.." Lily responded, sitting back down with a worried look coming to her face. "Come back soon, okay?"
"I will. Start eating without me." Ally cast a smile over her shoulder and then strode out of the room.
Ally stood before the door she had been told was Deacon's, her heart pounding in her chest as she shuffled her feet back and forth uncertainly.
'I really don't want to do this... He really was being a jerk-off earlier, but even so.. I didn't mean to hurt him..'
The door in front of her opened and an unprepared Deacon stepped right out in front of her, coming practically face to face with her. A blush crept onto his face from the closeness of the proximity, as well as the embarrassment of the memory of their last meeting. His eyes narrowed and he glanced away with a gruff sounding, "What are you doing here?"
"I... Uh..." Ally blushed herself and took a step back, her throat seeming to go dry all of a sudden.
He raised an eyebrow as he glanced over at her discreetly, wondering what the hell she wanted. "What?"
"I was just... Err.." The racing in the girl's heart accelerated. His piercing gaze was frightening her more than she liked to admit and it was making it impossible for her to say what she came to say. 'Come on, just say it..' she scolded herself.
"Just spit it out, stupid!" he spat out in annoyance, glaring at her all the more.
Ally's eyes shot up and she took another step back, her eyes filling with tears again as her entire body began to shake. She really was afraid of him, she realized. With a deep breath, she closed her eyes tightly and cried out, "Y-You don't have to insult me! I came to apologize to you, b-but.." she opened her eyes and cast him an uneasy look. "But I guess I shouldn't have bothered wasting my breath.." she turned and hurried off down the hallway, leaving Deacon looking very dumbstruck as he stared after her.
After a moment, Deacon turned his gaze away and clenched his fist in frusteration. 'Stupid.. You shouldn't have been so harsh with her!' he growled at himself, turning and pounding his fist into the wall by his side. 'Why does she have to get offended so easily anyways..?' he frowned as he pulled his fist back and shook it out.
"Bad choice of words there, Deacon."
Deacon turned and scowled as the the fox girl, Yuina, came into view. She inclined her head and raised an eyebrow at him in an almost amused type of fashion that pissed Deacon off to no end.
"You're really not off to a good start, Deacon. I can't believe you got slapped already!"
"Shut up, Yuina! I don't want to hear it. Especially not from you!"
The fox girl's expression didn't change, she shrugged, seemingly unscathed by his anger. "Just wanted to give you my opinion."
"Yah, well, I really don't care what you think, Yuina." Deacon responded, his red eyes narrowing dangerously at her before he turned on his heel and stalked off, leaving Yuina to sigh and shake her head at him.
"You're such an idiot, Deacon..."
